connecting to trailforks and strava apps in 830

do you always need to have your phone on to access trailforks and strava apps from you 830?

i'm guessing you can just download the route to garmen directly so you don't have to always sync to access routes

i think i figured it out by going to navigation. it looks like the route is sitting in there.
