Odo oddity

Just came over to Garmin from another brand. Bought the Edge 830 MTB version.

I am trying to understand how the odo function works. It records the distance for a ride but if I don't save the ride then the odo resets to zero. Does this mean that the odo is updated only when I save a ride? (I don't save many; just the special rides.) How can I set the odo to the distance I want it set at?

    Yes. But you can delete rides in history, the odo remains and will no be updated when you delete the ride.

    No way. It's a significant worsening compared with my old 705 and 800. With those devices you could edit the total distance.

    This was one of the things I missed when upgrading from my 800.  

    There are a couple of odometer data fields available in ConnectIQ.
