Edge 830 to Edge 830 device transfer fails

As of today my girlfriend bought an Edge 830. I already had an 830. I thought it would be easy sharing courses using the device transfer option. After being able to transfer one course to the new device, transferring another course isn't possible anymore. We use the described method for pairing both devices. The receiving device lists the Edge 830. But after selecting the course name on the receiving device and press the confirmation arrow, almost immediately the receiving device gives the error message 'transfer failed. try again'.

Both deviced run on software version 8.10.

I  don't seem to find anything inline on this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I have the same problem. transferring courses always fails

  • Same problem. In addition, it drops my phone connection until I restart the device.

  • Same issue, will not transfer to partners 830 anymore, very frustrating...

  • FWIW, I just bought a new 1030+.  Most things did not transfer from my 830: Courses, training data, etc.  I *did* eventually manage to transfer routes. I have no real evidence that anything that I did made it work... but here's what I did.  I disabled both phone connection and wifi on both devices and then power-cycled them both.  I set the 830 up as the source (Connected Features > Device Transfers > Share Files > select all courses) and then scanned for it with the 1030.  The 830 never acknowledged the connection (Display: Waiting for connections) but, after several minutes the 1030 found it and initiated the transfer.  Several minutes more and it succeeded: I have all my courses.
