Results or may not be that good when walking. The Edge products are cycling specific product so make certain assumptions around how they will be used and have configured the GPS settings accordingly. Eg minimum speed
This is my experience. Walking and hiking are not well rendered by any of the Garmin cycling devices. I use an Etrex 30x for hiking and find the the Vivoactive 3 works surprisingly well for both hiking and walking. I have been through all of the auto pause off and the like and the riding gps devices just don't work regardless of the settings. They certainly could but Garmin would need to bake in a mode with the appropriate internal settings.
