Elevation incorrect / Barometer broken?

Since two weeks or so, my elevation on the EDGE 830 is way off.

Does anyone have an idea what the cause could be?

This is really annoying.

I can provide more examples if anyone has an idea and more data is required.

Such a big deviation is not acceptable. Even if the hole to the sensor is plugged by water .

The obvious: try to correct a false bit by resetting it and: was your starting height put in okay (although that could not explain a 1500 m deviation).

The activity should be visible now, starting elevation was right and also the first 80k of the ride looked pretty solid. But then it gets weird.

Can you see it in the activity?

there is an elevation problem on edge 830 since summer 2020, but garmin does not fix it((

Before the recent batch of FW updates, I noticed that Garmin always exaggerated the elevation compare to Strava.

But after the updates, Garmin seems to understate the elevation, compared to Strava.

Which is great, if you take part in any Strava elevation challenges, because you get "free" metres/ft climbed

(Unsure if Garmin or Strava are giving the correct figures though).

Now it’s spot on. It was broken for three weeks and my last two rides haven been incredibly spot on.

maybe my barometer broke entirely ant it uses GPS elevation now? Which I’d prefere anyway, shame you cant’t manually choose to only have gps elevation.

Broken again. Showed only 1300m of elevation gain on a bikemarathon with 4600 elevation gain. Really annoying to not know where you are on a climb and roughly how much there's left.

The holes in the underside are mostly clean? I think those are used for the measurement.

The elevation is always correct at the beginning of a ride, once the EDGE has the satellite connection and soaked for a while it's spot on. It's just going astray during the ride...

I had it replaced 4 times now and the 5th unit is also showing crazy elevation during the ride.. elevation increasing on downhills.. and stuck at uphills... crazy.... no point replacing it for the 5th time.. the new unit will behave the same...(I have a 3 year old ForeRunner.. shows perfect elevation..).. by the way incorrect elevation always starts after Firmware uodate..

The same here, already replaced one time, after a few months I have the elevation problem with the second one...
