Can I change the colour/visibility of the "me" pointer on the map to see its orientation more easily?

I can't easily see the pointer that indicates my position in the centre of the map while mountain biking. With the map set to "North Up", I know it's in the centre of the screen, but I can't easily see its orientation. It's hard enough to see while stationary, and pretty impossible while riding rough trails.
