Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Edge 830 device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Edge830_719Beta.zip folder.
  3. Copy the GUPDATE.GCD file from the Edge830_*** distribution folder to the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.

  5. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  6. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE_710.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Wow! I just receive an email message that someone flagged my post above as abusive. I asked if Garmin would respond to my beta reporting document. lol

  • I've submitted a handful of reports with the Edge and Fenix teams.  I've gotten a couple responses asking for further information.  Others I don't get a response.  I figure if the teams need more info, they'll let me know.

  • I think that is because of the email address in your post. I had the same problen, but after some minutes I got a message that it is not abusive and were posted.

  • It seams I have troubles with loading my routes, the loading is freezing at 13% or 44%

I downgrade back to 7.10 and the tracks are loading like before ???

Could it be that it becomes from 7.19 ?

I could reinstall the update but it ask a lot of time to reconfigure the Edge, so if you have other customers with the same problem let me know please

  • I have the Beta 7.19 on my Edge 830. I have just tested whether it works on my Edge. I loaded a saved route and then loaded a saved point under favourites. Both worked without the Edge is freezing.

  • Just tried it, route caching worked really well, but it took longer for routing to calculate (1:23 vs 0:59 for a test route), not sure if thats extra logging in the beta given the "improved course routing speed" note.

Couldn't quite workout how the popularity overlay worked. Some of the maps had very black roads on them, which I thought was it, but they stayed even when I turned off the popularity overlay.

I like the idea of the direction arrows on the map, but they are quite large. Maybe I'll get used to them but right now I feel they could be a bit smaller, although should be larger than the black triangle for current position.

Looking forward to trying the final release, and it's great that the sw has been unified across the Edge range and we still get new features.

  • so I update again to 7.19 it seams to be OK !? I try to load and ride a track tomorrow

  • Running 7.19 with a power meter, favero assioma duo.

Experiencing the data field for power zone is sluggish to update it's value, compared to actual effect numbers, after pushing above zone8.

It seems to get stuck in zone 8 for at least 10-20s before showing correct zone value.

The recorded values are all ok, it's only the presented power zone value that displays sluggishly.

    Anyone else?

  • I can confirm that turn by turn notification are very slow comparing to 7.10, approaching a turn seams to indicate rarely closer then 200 m and after the devise stuck in the last indication before going over to next turn
