Battery Saving Mode not activated

Approximately a month ago the battery saving mode on my edge 830 is not activable in a consistent manner. Also when an activity is started after the device has been switched off a a "Rk 42... km" message

pops up three time after the the activity has been started. The display does not switch off aver after certain amount of time as i would expect.

Strangely if i start an activity after the device has been switch on when no gps reception is available the energy saving mode is correctly activated. However, as soon as GPS reception is available the three "rk" messages appear, from then on the energy saving mode doesn't work anymore.

If i stop the activity and then restart another one without switching on the device the "rk" message don't appear anymore. The energy saving mode doesn't work.

What i tried also is to switch the energy saving mode off and on while in an activity is running, this doesn't have an affect. Also, switching the energy saving mode off an on when no activity is running doesn't have an effect on the next activity.

Has anyone experienced similar problems?

The test mode shows no malfunctioning  of the GPS module, RAM etc. Otherwise the device works like a charm. Especially during two or three day ride the energy saving mode is highly useful, i only need to recharge the device maybe once over three days, also having the screen not always on reduces distraction...

Software: 7.10, Factory Reset tried

  • The Energy Saving mode works again! Thanks to a rainy evening spent in a tent i could make it work again...

I came to the conclusion that it had to do something to do with the fact that i used lowercase letters in my activity profile. Using a uppercase-only profile after switching makes the energy saving turn on. However, as soon as i switched to my modified profile with lower case letters made the “rk“-error pop up. The Energy saving mode is gone after that.

Recreating the exact same custom profile (at some point the name of the profile wans not saveable anymore) with an uppercase-only name works perfectly regarding the energy saving mode.
