Navigate to Course

please can someone tell me how I would do this:

I saved a course that started a couple of miles from me and wanted to do the course but the journey to the start point be recorded as part of the new course (so can save afterwards and it starts form my home) I entered the course and ut said navigate to start, i said yes, it then started but stopped after 5 minutes and did not continue. the screen said calculating and was doing so really slowly (19% in 15 minutes).

Please explain what is the correct way to navigate to a course start point and then do the course and to all recorded as one ride? Or is it easier to get a course and set the start as my home? if so how would I do this please?

Thank you

  • Navigation is separate from ride recording so stopping/starting navigation has no effect on stopping/starting ride recording.

The way to do it without creating a course that starts from your home is to start the navigation of the course, Choose the option to navigate to the course, start recording, when you get to the course choose to navigate it again as I think that the Garmin won't start navigating it if you have chosen for it to navigate you to the start, when you get to the end stop recording.

Now you have one recording that includes toe original course and the route from your home.

Note that it may be better to modify the course to start form your home as the the route the Garmin decides to take you to the original start may not be the best.

  • The devices can create a route to a location. That location can be a point-of-interest (POI), a result of a search, or the start location.

If it takes "too long" to calculate a route, it generally means the device is having trouble finding a path between your current position and the location you want to navigate to. One reason for this is when the distance between the two is large.
