Using Elite Dureto with Edge 830

Hey all,

This had probably been asked before but i did not find the answer yet.

I currently have my edge connected to the power meter and my heart rate sensor. Zwift and Rouvy are connected to all the sensors on the trainer because they control the trainer but now i was wondering what the correct way is to passive record the run with my edge? (for the training load)

Do i need to start a free ride from Training > Indoor Trainer >  Free Ride or what type of activity do i choose? Is it normal that the edge shows a different speed than rouvy or zwift (maybe because of the uphill or downhill on the track on zwift?) (also i did not connect the sensor for speed on my edge, why does it record speed anyway?)

Thanks!!

  • 1. Connect the trainer to the Edge as a power meter, not as a trainer, so you can see/record power data on the Edge but not have it interfere with Zwift etc controlling the trainer..

    2. Select the Indoor profile when you are going to start a trainer session.  Do not use the training function on the Edge.  That is for when you want the Edge to control the trainer.  You are using Zwift etc to control the trainer.

    3. When you start a ride with your training software press the start button on the Edge.  When you finish press the button again to stop the ride and save it.

That is all you need to do.  This is what I do and t works perfectly.

The trainer also broadcasts speed and cadence data.  You can pair it to the Edge as a speed/cadence sensor so you get speed/distance data from it. You will need to set the wheel size in the sensor details by applying the correct scale factor to a wheel circumference measnurement for the Direto.  You can find the scale factor by searching online.

If you don't pair the trainer as a speed cadence sensor you will not get any speed/distance data on the Edge.

  • If you have separate speed/cadence sensors on the trainer bike, can you only connect the trainer as a power meter and it will still record speed and distance for the ride?
