Edge 830 - display wind direction & wind speed

Hello,

Is there a way to display wind direction & wind speed on the Garmin Edge 830 screen while riding?

    There's the Windfield app.  The free version gives direction and windspeed but only updates every 60 minutes.  The standard and the pro versions offer more frequent checks of wind stations along with additional features (these aren't free versions though).  It's an excellent app in my opinion and the developer is very responsive with any issues.

    Without knowing Windfield app, i can only talk about the weather data wich is delivered from Garmin. Garmin is messing it up as complicated as they could get it after doing a month of brainstorming. There are at least 3 weather sources:

    1. source is used for Garmin Connect wich adds it after your workout to the workout. It doesn’t line up with the two others.

    2. Source is used for Edge devices. It seems Garmin is using bigger airports for that. We live in a place were Frankfurt is close by (one of the biggest in Europe). A little bit closer is Mannheim (domestic flights), wich is shown in the Widget when i look at home. Nearby is a small regional one wich is ignored. I think, the eTrex and Edge guys did talk a long time ago to the avionics guys and it was never changed. If i go approx 10km north, it will switch to Frankfurt.

    3. Source is used for Watches. It seems to be a big weather online service wich is used here. The widget on the watch reacts fast to changes of locations is pretty close to the weather stations i have access to at home or at work. This is the one wich should be used for all the services.

    You need to use a third party widget wich is super fast at updating when you are riding.

    I you want to use a Widget, there are some alternatives possibe:

    - Garmin internal data source: apps.garmin.com/.../adbb2a5b-a8f2-4101-b496-1bad866b3fca

    - ClimaCell or OpenWeatherMap: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/74d55b71-fc51-40d2-bc29-f1b5649e879a

    Both are showing charts for next hours. Can be limited to only wind dir and speed
