inaccurate road grade and temperature in my 830

Hello everybody.

The temperature of my 830 is always about 4 degrees C higher than sensors I have at home and compared to a 530 from a friend who goes out on the road with me and even compared to a Lezyne GPS. Someone else happens? .
I have also noticed that the degree of the slopes shown takes a delay of about 10/15 seconds, in some small ramps it shows me the degrees of ascent when I have been going down for a while. The latter compared to the 520 is also a very big delay. The 830 should be more accurate than a 520 right?
Should you sell the 830 and buy a 520? Could my unit be faulty or are all 830s equally inaccurate?

  • Has anyone noticed this? Doesn't it happen to anyone else? Is it possible that my device is faulty?
  • My temperature is also always to high. I haven't tried the slope thing, yet.

  • Thanks for your reply. I have sent an inquiry to Garmin customer service a week ago and have not received a response yet.
  • Today Garmin has answered to me. Make a hard reset and try again. I have done hard reset and of course allthings are the same. I only wasted my time. Now the higher temperature it is exactly 4 degrees Celsius higher.

Tomorrow I will try the instantaneous measurement of the slope. Surely it will also remain the same, it appears on the screen with a delay of about 15 seconds. That is, when you arrive at the top of a mountain pass and start to go down, the Garmin 830 keeps saying that you are going up for 15 more seconds

  • i have the same feedback from of my friends with 830, temperature to high and laggy gradient

  • After doing a hard reset to the device as GARMIN told me.
All these failures remain exactly the same.
I only managed to waste my time doing the hard reset and writing to garmin support again.
If the errors are known and are for all devices, why didn't they tell me and waste my time?
Maybe the Garmin support members were laughing at me while they wrote me the reply message.

  • I don't care about the temperature but do care about the grade. The grade was not too bad when I got the unit at the first release, a bit laggy than a chinese GPS unit. However, the firmware update ruined that. Now there is at least 5-8 sec delay. I can't remember which firmware was OKish (may be 3.50). The total ascent is always low due to the laggy grade.

  • Neither function should be wrong. It's not about what each user cares more or less. The important thing is that
the functions that Garmin sells you in the product and that they charge with a very high price of money, work correctly.
And if not, otherwise, they should clearly warn before selling which functions are real and which are joke feature.
