today's activity has vanished from the device after auto uploading to garmin Connect

The activity is not on the device activity list but the file is in the activities folder and the totals for the profile include today's ride.

Bizarre.

It auto uploaded so I didn't accidentally delete it!

Is there any way of "recovering" the activity.

Re-syncing with Garmin Connect and Express made no difference.

  • Download the activity from Connect and copy it into the folder on the device.

  • thanks, but the .fit file is already there.  Same thing happened today. The ride saves and uploads to Connect but my rides are then deleted from the device, they should be in ride history and activities but both have "no saved rides/activities"

I am beaten!  It sort of doesn't matter because the rides are saved and uploaded before they vanish.

Even more bizarre, When  I start a ride and instantly stop it and choose not to save a random past ride reappears in ride history!!!.....????

  • How many activity files do you have in the activities folder. There is a 200 activity limit

  • Are you saying that the .FIT files are located in the Activity folder when you connect your Edge to the computer?

  • thanks all, yes in answer to blake, they are but i then deleted them from the folder and surprise surprise that freed up enough space for recent rides to reappear on the device so I kept deleting.

I think the problem is the physio  true up facility which meant all my zwift rides over the last couple of months that did not involve my 830 but were auto uploaded to Garmin Conect then started to appear in my list of rides.  So I deleted all of them as well and i now have an empty folder. A 30 second start and stop ride today then appeared in the ride history so I am sorted I think.

I have  never had a notification that storage space was full?

I was not aware of the 200 limit, surely it would make sense for the old ones to be deleted rather than new ones not being saved?

Everything was syncing to GC so nota major issue, but great to have it resolved.

  • There isn't a notification that you are approaching the maximum number of activities, though it sounds like a good idea.

Yes it would be more intuitive if the older ones were deleted, but it unfortunately it's the most recent activities that get deleted
