With Version 7.0 firmware update for the 830 has anyone noticed any increase in volume, especially Varia alerts? I haven't but since I am very sensitive to this issue I was wondering what others think.

Maybe you need to have your hearing checked out. I don’t say this to be negative. Just that I can hear the tones loud and clear with music going and all the ambient noise from riding on the road. I’m forty years old.
No I checked indoors and the volume is still very low. before the December update it was loud enough to be heard outside. All other sounds are ok and my wife is a doctor and i haven’t started turning up the telly and everyone starts to complain. Thanks though.
Although I am 70 years old my hearing is not an issue (tested recently). I have not seen any noticeable increase in volume with the latest firmware upgrade. In an indoor room I can hear the alerts/notifications clearly but when on the road with traffic or wind it is quite difficult to hear nav turns or Varia alerts. I have even raised my 830 in the quarter turn mount and made sure the speaker is not being blocked by the mount or case. I do not think Garmin will ever be addressing this issue as some see no problems while others do. That being said I still think the best solution would be for Garmin (or third party app developer) to allow (if you want) the transfer of all notification sounds to your phone or external BT speaker. That way everyone can be happy. But then again that is probably too simple of a solution. :-(
My hearing is ok but not great with background buzz like wind etc. Whatever. Why not let the user set volume levels?
