I have seen this happen a lot of times. I even removed the network from the list, but to no avail. It only happens when I get back home, so maybe it has some kind of location-based behavior?
Yeah I tried removing my network too but that hasn't stopped it turning on :/
Would you be willing to send us a compressed (zip file) copy of your Garmin folder from your 830 to help us escalate this issue? If so, it's best to temporarily move the mapping files to the desktop of your computer to help reduce the file size.
Wongataa Dew4rd You have both been added to this internal case.
If I can ask, what is the use-case for wanting WIFI off, or how does this impact your use of the device? It ultimately doesn't matter, as settings shouldn't change themselves, but more info on how this impacts your use helps us internally.
It is not expected that a given function that was supposed to be off suddenly turns on. If it is on it is draining battery somehow, not to mention using processor cycles. If I want something to be off it should be off. Apart from this I do not see any impact on the use of the device itself.
The Wi-Fi issue doesn't affect the use of my unit. It is just an annoyance and functions should turn themselves on if the user has turned them off.
I have no desire to connect my 830 to a Wi-Fi network and so have never connected it to any. The Wi-Fi- turns on and it can't do anything apart from drain the battery pointlessly.
I don't think we have any disagreement here. Perhaps I can clarify.
I meant that the user experience ultimately doesn't matter in terms of escalating this issue, because that has already been done. The actual user experience and how it has been impacted is secondary, but also important information that we like to look at internally.
A setting is changing itself and that should not occur. That's what's been escalated. Everything else is extra, and also helpful.
