Version 7.00 battery drain?

Hello,

Yesterday I rode for 7 hours and when got home battery was less than 30%. Today a 3h ride the battery went from 98% to 65%. That’s 10% average per hour.

previously with the same sensors and livetrack I was getting 5-6% battery drain in an hour, even with navigation on.

Anyone else is having the same problem?

thanks!

  • My 830 is on V7 and after a 2:15h ride this afternoon battery dropped from 70 to 64%. So no issue for me.
(GPS+Gallileo, Smart recording, dimmed display after 15 or so seconds, without turn-by-turn navigation active)

Edit: the edge was bought early 2020, so quite new

  • Thanks a lot. I’ll have to dig deeper to understand the problem.

  • Hi, my 830 is is V7 and after a 2h55min ride this afternoon, the battery dropped from 98% to 90%.

Following a track, backligt 15 seconds 10% intensity, mobile off, power, cadence, heartrate sensors on.

  • Check if the backlight got flipped to always on.  That happened to me during the last FW upgrade and was the source of my battery drain.

  • I’m on version 7.00 with Bluetooth connectivity to phone, plus Heart, Speed, Cadence and Power sensors connected and screen on all the time yesterday following Route with on screen navigation used 10% in just under 2 hours. Very happy with battery usage. Hope that helps.

  • Further update as 4.5 hours usage has reduced battery by 33% equating to 7.3% per hour. All sensors paired (heart, cadence, speed and power), light network on via ANT+, phone connected via Bluetooth, GPS+ GLONASS, data recording interval at 1 second, navigation on for course, track recording, auto backlight level and screen on all the time. Outside temperature was 10 Celsius on average. No idea what battery usage was before the firmware update to 7.0 but never had cause to be concerned. Hope this helps.

  • I recently reset my unit and forgot to check my backlight timer and that caused the unit to drain faster. I fixed it and now it's back to normal.

  • After draining the battery and recharge to full I am getting normal values now. However the battery does not seem to change fully, when I get back on the next day it's at 98%, not 100% even with power completely off.

  • I had a ride yesterday and with the backlight at 40% and a ride for 1,5 hour i lost 30%.

I have a phone, HR cadens- and speedsensor. All BT

Before the update it was less battery drain.
