My Garmin 830 repeatedly and consistently freezes up after a ClimbPro segment. I am currently running the publicly released FW version 6.20.
The freeze happens consistently with the following conditions:
1. The ride has 1 or more ClimbPro segments identified.
2. I am on the elevation profile page when a ClimbPro climb starts. The ClimbPro page auto-starts.
3. When the ClimbPro climb completes, the 830 automatically returns to the elevation profile page.
4. The elevation profile page display freezes and does not update. I cannot switch to any other screen.
To recover from this, I have to do a two-button reset: simultaneously press the Power and Start/Stop (bottom right) buttons for 5+ seconds until the 830 reboots.
When the software completes loading, you will be on the "Save Ride?" page. To continue the ride, press the Start/Stop Botton. NOTE: the unit will have to require satellites, so I think the soft reset throws out the GPS satellite ephemeris, but the activity is still there to complete.
I believe I can prevent this problem if once the ClimbPro climb page has come on I swipe to another page, then back to the ClimbPro page. But I don't always remember to do this.
I believe this began happening in the last released version 5 firmware before the version 6.x release. All version 6.00-6.20 public releases have continued to have this problem.
Please fix this, Garmin. It's an incredibly annoying bug to have to stop repeatedly on a ride for 2-3 minutes to reboot and restart an activity.
