Auto Pause and restarting

When I have auto-pause (When Stopped) selected and then I restart I get the play symbol overlay and green border. If I then push the start/stop button once to start recording it acts as if I am stopping the ride and do I want to save or discard when I am only trying to restart the same ride. However, I tried pressing the button quickly twice and it correctly restarted the ride. Is this correct in that you have to press "start/stop" twice to restart after auto-pausing?

Also is there an auto-resume function like my Edge 800 which once I started moving again it automatically started recording again? I found this statement from a previous post 4 months ago but I cannot find Auto-resume in any of my menus. No mention either in the so-called manual.

"At this Auto Pause mode there is also the resume option with speed moving choices Turned off, Slow and Fast" ???????????

  • When using auto-stop you do not need to hit the start/stop button to resume.  You just have to have your bike move faster then the stopping threshold.  The green overlay you see is the auto-resume.  By pressing start/stop twice, you are simply stopping and starting the activity.

  • Right.  Autopause also auto resumes.  Only press the button at the start of the ride or when you want to stop and save the ride.

You can separately set an Autostart function that will automatically start recording a ride at a threshold speed you set when you first set off.

FWIW:  I find setting a manual speed threshold to work more reliably than "When stopped."  Something like 5mph or so.  Also, using a wheel sensor will improve the reliability by preventing random autopausing caused to GPS wander.

  • thanks, I reset the 830 last night and everything worked as expected today
