How do I change a start point on a previously created route edge 830 ?

Hi, I wonder if someone could help me.

I’ve been onto the “courses near me” on Garmin Connect option, and there’s a great route that I would like to follow.  The only problem is that the person who created the route had a different start and finish place to me (obviously or we would be living in the same house haha).

does anyone know how I can edit the route and change the start point ? I’ve copied it over, and make some small changes, but it’s still trying to start me from the wrong point ?

Many thanks

Gill

  • There's no facility to edit courses on the 830 (or any of the Garmins).

    Is this a loop route?

The Garmins will continue the course anywhere you join it.

If you starting before the end and want to continue past the endpoint. the Garmin will finish the route when you reach the endpoint.

All you need to do to continue is to reload the course again.

  • Download the course to your computer then upload it to a site like RideWithGps, Strava, GPSies, etc...  In any one of these you will be able to edit it, then export it to your Garmin.  You can drag the start or stop to anywhere you like and add control points to move the course segments to where you want them.

For purposes of laying out new routes and editing existing routes I prefer RWGPS.

  • Go to Garmin Connect on your computer. Click "Duplicate". Than you will be able to edit this course.  Just drag and drop start icon and finish icon.
