Exercise load calculation

Hello,

does someone know or can explain how Exercise load is being calculated?

'Cause when I compare this two bicycle rides, it comes to me as odd seeing such a huge difference.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5542407379 SW 6.00

50+km, Exercise Load 252, Primary Benefit Tempo, Aerobic 4.9, Anaerobic 2.0, Elapsed Time 4h26min, Moving Time 2:39

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5478565165. SW 6.00

39+km, Exercise load 11(!), Primary Benefit None, Aerobic 0.8, Anaerobic 0.0, Elapsed Time 7h56min, Moving Time 1:56

When you check the route, it's pretty much similiar to some extent, however it comes to be as a big suprise that if I do stop along the ride for little bit longer, Exercise load drops siginificantly.

Any ideas? Is this expected?

Thanks.
