Edge 830 vs Edge 810 - Discrepancy in Total Ascent calculations

I recently got a new Edge 830 that replaced my old 810. I gave to my wife the 810, and when we ride together, the 810 consistently shows more feet of ascent than the 830 - over 200 ft. difference on a 30 or so mile ride having 2,000 or so feet of elevation gain. (For example, today we did 33 miles and the 830 registered 2,146 feet of ascent while the 810 showed 2,389.) Any idea why the discrepancy. Does the 830 use a different method or mechanism for calculating ascent? And if it's inaccurate, are there any fixes or work arounds? Thanks!

830 is carppy on ascent and grade. There are quite a lot of threads complaining on the less ascent and extremely-low-responsing grade, but garmin is pretending to be deaf. The complaining keeps from the released version to now. Garmin only had messed it up more in fm 6.00 and repaired the over-smooth problem of 6.00 in the current 6.20. IMO both barometer and interpolation algorithm are ShXt.

Same situation - opposite result. My 830 logged a few hundred more feet of ascent, on a 60 mile ride, than my old 810 that my GF used.
