How do I break off a Strava route

My bike club takes new routes that I save in Strava and then follow on my new Edge 830; but at a certain point, I know where I am at and therefore I want to break of that route and continue on my own without the Edge trying to course correct. How do I suspend the loaded Strava route, without losing my ride at the end?

To stop a route in progress: 1) change to your map screen, 2) select the red octagon, lower left corner, with an "X" in the middle, 3) select the check mark.

Absolutely, I second this answer - you can stop and restart courses without impacting the activity in progress.

You can also swipe down from the top of any page to bring up the control widgets/pages. Scroll through these pages and you should find an option to stop navigation if you are currently navigating.
