System Tones Off, but Off Course Tones On?

Is this possible?

I want to have the device effectively silent, but want it to make tones when it comes to navigation.

I am sure this was possible on the 820.

You can't do this. It is all tones or no tones.

I suggested exactly this to Garmin suggestions years ago, soon after I got my 830. It seems like such a usability no-brainer to me. Maybe if everyone suggests they'll pay attention.

Garmin is like Apple. They lost interest in customer feedback.
