800 Edge. Can I overwrite or delete a bike profile?

My 800 is still sufficient for me but over time I have used all bike profiles. I have a new bike and also need to install a Bluetooth speed sensor on an older bike (via Ant+ to garmin and  to use Bluetooth to trial Zwift. 800 does not support Bluetooth) . Can  I overwrite a bike profile (or delete,  if so how) by just trying to pair?   I have already tried to pair the new Bluetooth sensor via ant+ to garmin on a previously gcs10 paired bike profile but I don’t know whether it’s possible as the profile is already used or whether I am encountering all the usual pairing issues which are driving me spare!

  • You can not delete a bike profile by just trying to pair a new sensor.  I believe the 800 is similar to the 705 with regards to sensors.  It does not support separate speed and cadence sensors, only speed/cadence sensors.  So you are stuck with only being able to recognize the GCS10.  The edge 810 is the first unit in the 8xx series that could connect to speed, cadence, and speed/cadence sensors.

  • This is not true.  I was using separate speed and cadence sensors on my 800 prior to buying my 830.  I do not remember what the setup was like, but could check as I still have the 800.

  • Thank you both for taking the time to reply. Steve, you are correct. Although not easy to track down, there are separate cadence and speed fields available. However, I couldn’t get the new garmin 2 ones to pair. It could have been my fault. After sending them back,  I thought I would try utilising my old gcs 10. So

    1) for my new bike with no fresh profile available, is there anyway to get it in on the 800 with gcs10? This is really important

    2) the profile issue is important for my bike indoors too.  Using another new Bluetooth sensor, which I will buy, this also needs to be paired  Again there is no profile available as the indoor bike is currently using the gdc10 speed (not cadence ) but will not send data to my iPad via Bluetooth for Zwift  which is required

The key problem to solve first, and then I’ll worry about pairing, is the bike profiles  Any help much appreciated

    Thank you for your time.

  • Have you tried removing the previously paired GCS10 before pairing the new sensor?

  • that is good to know. I was going off of the 800 manual, since I don't own an edge800, which is more similar to the 705 than the 810 when it comes to pairing sensors.  According to the manual you only get to say yes or no to pair the cadence sensor.  Since it specifically stated the GCS10 in the manual.  The 705 is the exact same process.  I know on the 810, you had to go into the sensor details and tap on the senor type to switch between spd/cad, spd only, cad only, or spd and cad as separate sensors.

In your bike profile set the sensor to no then back to yes.  Is there a button to rescan for sensors? If so tap on that. That process should remove the old sensor. You should then be able to pair a different sensor to the bike profile.  Each bike profile should be able to be linked to different speed/cadence sensors.
