Navigation issue after Ver 5.50

After the latest release  5.50 my 830 does not turn overlay does not dismiss for a pretty long time after the turn.  Also out and backs seem to get confused about which direction I am traveling along the route after I am off course.  Has anyone else encountered these issues?  The device was perfect before the update.

  • I have been having similar issues since the update.

  • I had installed the Open Source maps, so I went back to the garmin maps - we will see if that helps.  Do you have garmin maps?

  • Since the 5.50 update the refresh rate of the map and map overlay when navigating has dropped. Before the update distance to a turn tracked well but now the refresh rate is so slow I'm thru a turn but the edge might show 20- 30 meters to go. Of course the overlay takes longer than it used to to disappear after the turn while the distance to turn finally drops to 0.  Resetting the device has not helped.

  • Be sure you have active only BaseMap (must be), and also only, the map you are going to use to ride your route, Edge will work perfect !

By upgrading, all the maps you have installed are activated(?)

  • Can you explain this please? I haven't loaded any map layers that I know of. The only things I have added are Strava segments and courses, Trailforks, and a few Routes from Garmin Connect.

  • If you do not install other Maps, you have only the factories installed Garmin Cycle Maps EU but they are device into 2 west or Eastern Europe, you can disable one, belongs where you are from

    Follow this way:

Activity Profiles / choice profile you want to use /  Navigation / Map / Map Information Select Map /  Enabled - INTL Sandard Basemap, NR ; Enabled - Garmin Cycle Map EU West or East (belongs where you are going to ride) ; Disabled All the others  you found there.

  • So I can't use Trailforks maps? Inclusion of Trailforks is a major feature of this device.

  • That I do not know, I never use Trailforks, I only use my bike on roads so it is not the major feature for me, I even have it on my GPS.

But if trailforks is prevued to use with another map, I suppose you can activate it to.

  • Does this solution really make the 830 faster in refreshing during/after a turn while navigating?

  • It didn't seem to do anything for me. The delay of showing the next step still seems longer than in 5.10 or 5.20, I can't remember exactly which version I was on before.
