ignore starting point

Hi, just started with mij Edge 830.

It surprised me that, when I'm picking up a circular route (with no start or endpoint) some where mid way the navigation suddenly stop because it reaches the "end point". The route is circular so, there is no end point.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Similar question - is it possible to join an existing route in the middle. Tried once and it keeps wanting to send me back to start

Hi SteeeBu, you can avoid this (Edge 830) by ignoring (when starting te route) "Navigate to start of the course". The only problem you then have is navigating to the closest point where you want to join.

It seems that the Garmin Edge is have trouble with having a "random" starting point. You should indeed be able to navigate to the closest point of the route and not the starting point.....

Every route has a start end end point. With a circular route they are just in the same place.

Yeah. There might be a way to create a purely circular route but all the methods I use have defined starting and end points and a direction of travel.

Yeah. As long as you don't choose "Navigate to start" when you load a course, you can can join a loaded course anywhere. It will say "Course found" and start providing turn instruction. If you go the wrong way, it'll command a U turn at some upcoming point.

So @garmin: don't navigate to starting point of the route but every spot on a circular route.

There isn't a way because each point has a time. The direction of travel is determined as a result of the points being ordered by time.

Thanks for that . Yes I tried ignoring the navigate to start option but then I didn’t get any directions even though I was on the course. Will try again next time I’m out and see how it goes may be operator error
