Edge and Zwift data difference

Hello all
Please help me!
I have Garmin Edge 830, Tacx Flux 2 and Zwift account.
I connected Tacx trainer as sensors to my Edge 830 and to Zwift.
While Zwift training I see different speed and distance on my Edge screen and Zwift screen.
I understand, that Garmin can’t see Zwift elevates, but it’s same sensor!
Which one is correct?
Please help

  • Zwift calculates in-game speed and distance based on power and the virtual terrain you're riding on.  The more power you're putting out as reported by the trainer, the faster and further you go.  The steeper the virtual terrain the slower you go.

The Edge can only calculated stationary speed and distance using rear wheel rotations and wheel circumference.  This will necessarily be different from what Zwift reports.  When riding Zwift, use Zwift speed and distance.

  • Yep, the same here. For me Zwift is too optimistic with speed. It look like always I ride with strong wind. From other side there is Edge twice slower. At the beginning I connected... Connect to Zwift but after a while I noticed there is no info about Training Effect or kilometers to get points for Challenges. So then I switched to sync with Edge and getting around half of kilometers and speed... You are right, it's pretty disappointing. They should find solution and offer to client simple, reliable service.

Today I tested Rouvy. In this app number of kilometers was quite close: 8,2 (Rouvy) vs 9,6 (Edge), but maybe it happened because almost all route was uphill without extra downhill calculation like in Zwift.
