Garmin Segment no current position

Hey,

Today I started my created course with some Garmin segments in it (turn.hints activated).

Before I came to the segment with a climb, the edge 830 showed me the climbpro function, then showed me the segment. So far so good. But then the segment page seemed to be freezed. The page showed my personal record, the profil and the data fields, but the position on the profile didn't update and the Data field for the time deficit was always at 0:00, the watt data field worked fine!  Further Garmin didn't recognized that the segment was over. Climbpro perfectly gave the right information, current position, meters to the end of the climb etc. Other segments (no climbs) perfectly worked. Any idea how to solve it?

Using Garmin edge 830 v5.20

Thank you for help.

  • I think the interaction between ClimbPro and Live Segments is ... complicated. produced the guide below which I found on another thread in the 530 discussion.

This is from a while ago, but check the "I understand the use case for ClimbPro, but can I still use segments" section on page 12:

Understanding ClimbPro on the Edge V1.7.pdf

  • Thank you for the link. The document is perfect, but does not solve the problem or confirms the problem

“When riding the course ClimbPro will take precedence over segments so if you have started a segment and then start a climb identified by ClimbPro the Edge will switch to the ClimbPro page. White check mark

The segment is still being processed. The Edge will report when you complete the segment and you can still scroll to view the segment page.” X

I cannot confirm the last 2 sentences. In my case I can scroll to the segment page, but it is not updating the position etc and the edge doesn’t report the completion. Frowning2

will test it with other climb segments.

  • It sounds like a bug. One thing to check is that the segment file for the segment you were on is actually on the unit in the Garmin\Segment folder.

It should be, but worth checking.

  • Thanks, I double checked. But everything seems ok.

Today 3 of 4 segments were completely ignored by the Garmin. All 4 were activated. In Garmin connect 1 on them wasnt recognized on my tour, but I was on this segment.

No idea, maybe the segments I downloaded are buggy or the edge has a bug.

    Can anyone confirm my problems?

  • I will try and giving it a  test using Garmin Segments. I typically ride with Strava segments and have not seen an issue there.
