Garmin 830 died mid ride

My Garmin 830 screen went into sleep mode then the entire unit stopped working mid ride. It was partially not fully charged before riding. The entire unit is now black - not even the power button is working. It will not charge either.

Any ideas? It is about 1.5 years old so not hugely old

The Edge 830 was officially released just over 1 year ago, so unless you ordered and received one of the very first ones, your device is less than 1 year old. Depending on where you lived or bought it, it could still be covered by warranty ...

I was on here looking for help as my six month old garmin 830 simply was dead as I went to use it, tried the 10 second on the power button, just over actually, it worked, for the moment ! Thanks

Two year warranty on Garmins, although you'll most probably get a refurbished unit. I returned my fenix watch and it was most definitely a brand new one they sent to me!

I know the refurbed units are indistinguishable from a new unit, other than possibly some indication with the serial number.

As for the hard reset suggestion, holding down the power button for up to 15 seconds is a troubleshooting step that can potentially resolve multiple issues. Slow boot times, restarts, freezes, etc. Thank you everyone for passing that suggestion along.

My Edge explore was 20 months old when I returned it due to the woeful battery life. Garmin UK give a 2 year warranty.
