My edge 830 does not display the start , sideways triangle icon to begin tracking distance time speed etc. So far it is useless. What's wrong.

After you press start, it does not start the timer and begin tracking distance?

How do you. have it set to "Start" - manual, prompt, auto?

Ah! I was suffering through this, because the 830 has a touch screen and "displays" the sideways triangle. BUT PRESSING THAT DOES NOT "START" THE ACTIVITY! Unbelievable that nowhere does Garmin documentation differentiate between what is"touched" on the screen and what is done with a button. There are two buttons, one for lap and one to "start timer" at bottom right. When you read the "instructions" you only get the sideways triangle symbol as the "start" option, right after the little Biker Rider Symbol, which is on the screen. Unbelievable Garmin! I almost returned this device to REI because of this documentation issue. GARMIN--don't you wonder how many bad reviews or returned items you might have because your documentation is VAUGE?
