Hi! Please help me!

1030 - big screen for navigation - (I want it !!) vs 830 - faster processor

Is it really noticeably slower?? Disappointed relieved

  • Even with bad eye-sight, i still chose the 830 for its compact size, better screen, and faster processor. The last 2 swayed me toward the 830. I didn't own the 1030, but i at least compared menu navigation, and thought the 830 was more responsive.

My dad has the 1030 and it seems pretty much just as fast as my 830. With hindsight I would've gone for the 1030, no doubt.

  • Yes, old processor for big screen is not ideal, the 830 one with new processor is faster and the screen is better - colours/touch/no blue halo effect/...

  • 830 is about 80% faster in the tree benchmark.

In the real world it varies, just tested my 830 vs my 1030 and the 830 calculates a 100k route a bit faster, but not 80% faster.

My 1030 was reset and not used much, my 830 is used daily so might have more fragmented storage due to a lot of small files.

A real comparison would be on reset devices. I was also running beta firmware on them both so not an overly rigorous testing procedure :-)

Since I got the 830 I rarely use the 1030. I don't miss the bigger screen. I like the better screen, faster performance and extra Firstbeat metrics.
