Difference in track navigation Edge 830 and FR945

Hello Community,

When I upload a track to my FR945, I can select it from the menu and start running immediately, but Edge 830 does a lot of calculations before I can start cycling. Depending on the length of the track, this can take several minutes. Both devices are showing turn notifications, climbs and so on. Hence where is the difference, maybe I did something wrong in the configuration of my Edge 830?

Kind regards

Moritz

  • I'm guessing the turn instructions you are getting on the watch are from course points and are not being generated by the watch.

This is the default behavior on the watch. It uses the course file and not the map.

The Edge is set-up the other way around. It defaults to generating turn instructions based on the map data. You can switch that off if you want and just the course points in the course file.

Thank you for your reply. Do you have an idea where I can switch that off, I have not found any option.

  • Navigation -> Courses -> Saved courses -> hambuger menu -> Turn off turn guidance.  Make sure for each course you have course points turned on (the default setting) in the settings for that course.
