Turning off a garmin edge 830

My garmin edge 830 won't turn off and the display says activity in progress stop the timer before putting the device to sleep or powering off. Any ideas?

Push the button on the bottom right hand side to stop the activity. You should get presented with an option on the screen to save or discard the ride. I would recommend discard since it sounds like you are not in a ride at the moment. If this does not work, then you can hold the power button for 30-45 seconds until you hear the power off beep.

Hi, I had a similar problem. Press long the power button doesn't switch the device really off. Its related to an fw problem with 5.10. I updated to the latest beta resolved that problem. See forums.garmin.com/.../device-don-t-switch-off

Amen! thank you. The manual instructions on line did not work
