Ugh. How do I simplify this thing???

Premise: User experience is enhanced with less clicks, less things forced on you.

#1. How do I stop my 830 from trying to connect with EVERY power device it comes near?  I have 4-6 bikes with power meters and four smart trainers.  Can you imagine what it's like having to always tell the 830 that I don't want to pair with all these devices???  I regularly ride away from my house, already turned on, collecting data, and the 830 wants to switch to a trainer in the house.  I have NEVER connected to a trainer and never plan to!

#2.  How do I stop my 830 from constantly turning on every time I unplug it?  I unplug it from computer.  It turns on.  I turn it off.  I take it over to my charging station and plug it in.  It turns on (ad then likes to beep on and off regularly).  I take it off my charging station leaving my study because I'm going to ride in 30 minutes (not immediately).   Yeah, it turns on... ugh

#3. Has Garmin put out a FIX yet to the bug that forces us to see the Load screen after we save our ride?  Another awesome, hard, long, interval workout from coach done successfully, just to have my 830 tell me it was "Unproductive."  Garmin has no right to force their training system on us...

When user interfaces are designed/tested, the number of clicks and screens necessary to use something are "supposed" to be minimized and the most logical, direct flow maximized.  Did Garmin never hear about / learn about user interface design?

Yeah, I'm frustrated.  I bought a bike computer and got Big Brother.

Thanks,

Bill

  • The only time my 530 tries to connect to my trainer is if I accidently leave the trainer powered on. When turned off it’s never an issue, so, switch your trainers off and save some $$ while you are at it.

  • Thanks, Tim_B_.   I'm powered by Solar Energy here and have excess capacity, so my trainers never get turned off.  One is my wife's and with her hip replacement, she doesn't need to bend over one more time every day!  But, thanks for thinking of that - important to most folks!
