Firstbeat "Workout Labels" description for cycling?

would it be possible that Firstbeat will release a Info bout "Workout Labels" for cycling specific too?

here the description is more for running:

https://www.firstbeat.com/en/consumer-feature/workout-labels/

sometimes i think i get not the correct Workout labels after my rides, would be nice, to have something to compare for cycling, so you have the possibility to adapt the training?

  •  you have any idea where to get it, i am not sure, but often my workouts (cycling) labeled for my point of view not correct?

are the workout labels based only on HR Zones or only on Power Zones or on both?

my workouts based primary on power zones!

    for example:

when i ride a workout in Power Zone 4 (Threshold) i get a Pace/Tempo Label
when i ride a workout in Power Zone 3 (Tempo) i get a Base Label
    when i ride a workout in Power Zone 5 (vo2max) i get a Pace/Tempo Label

  • Sorry, looks like I missed this ping earlier.

The labels are based on internal load (derived primarily from HR, but incorporating some other performance data as available for enhanced reliability). I am sure that data from your power meter is probably factored in at some level, but not at a particularly high level... so for example a sudden jump up in power could be used to precisely mark the start of an interval better than looking just at changes in HR.

Workout Labels are not tied to any specific zones you set on your watch. But you can probably use the zones you set as a guide towards hitting, say, the difference between a Threshold and a Tempo ride.

I don't have a cycling specific version of that table, but looks to me like it could be considered pretty generic if you swap running pace concepts out for power and LT for FTP.

  • thanks, i will give it a try, would it be ok, when i post from time to time a example here and ping you again for your your opinion?

  •  here i have now a example, i don't really understand, made this indoor ride with high and short sprints:

    HR with Power Overlay:

warmup with 3x1min surges with a cadence of 110 followed with 5min @FTP, then a 1 minute all out, recovery, 5min @ 115-120%FTP, recovery and 2x1min sprints and 2x15sec sprints all out

my time in zones look like that:

as you can see most of my workout i was very slow, big time in HR Zone 1+2 and Power Zone 2, but after this ride my FTP increased +2 Watt and Training Effect looks like this (sorry, it's german, but think it's clear), why i got a label "Pace"?

Hope you have an idea? is it correct or not?

for the change (increase FTP) i thought i have to ride normally arround 20minutes in my FTP Power Zone, a little bit over my FTP to get a increase, but i ride onl ~7:30 minutes in this zone.

But my HR was arround ~20min in Z3 to Z5, can this change my FTP too?
