My Duotrap Speed sensor magnet slid down my spoke during a ride and my Edge 830 paused

My Duotrap Speed sensor wheel magnet became loose and slid down my spoke during a ride and my Edge 830 paused and would not record my movement. I thought the GPS should have taken over and continued to record my ride. Is there some setting I need to change in case this happens again?  I had to spot several times during that ride to reposition the wheel magnet to get it to unpause.

  • switch auto pause of. As long as the speed sensor is connected and transmitting null, this will trigger auto pause.
    Its in the sports profile.

OK - thanks for the input.  When you say "It's in the sports profile" what do you mean?  Can you clarify?  Thanks again.

  • This is actually a good thing in my opinion.  With the 800, the behavior was that the gps would kick in if the sensor showed stopped but the 800 detected motion.  Sucked when on a long ferry ride or something.

I’d fix the spoke magnet.  Or get a newer sensor that attaches to the hub and doesn’t use a magnet.

  • I have the same issue. I recently took out the magnet from my old bike that has slim profile(flat, not the cylindrical shaped screw type) and this solved the problem.

  • Really? Some times, reading the manual is to hard...

You can change it in Settings per Profile. If you want one profile to have it and another where it is disabled, it is possible.
