Problem linking Connect IQ to Strava

When opening the Strava Routes app on the Edge 830 I get a message on my phone that it needs to connect to strava. It then takes me to the strava log in screen. After the login in, I need to authorize  Strava access, but after pressing authorize I get the pop-up in the last screenshot below saying: "There was a problem getting you signed in!".

Any ideas what is causing this? Trying to link to Komoot gives the exact same error message when pressing authorize.

I did find a work around to get strava routes onto the device using the routeCourse app, by linking to Strava on the dynamic.watch site. But still it would be nice to link to Strava directly to get live segments.

I’ve observed the same erratic behavior on trying to connect Strava or Komoots.
It’s driving me nuts but I must conclude that there is nothing that we users can do but to wait until Garmin fixed the API on their page.
If you read the ratings of the IQ application from April they’re shattering. They all complain of not being able to grant their application access to Garmin.

Come on Garmin - please address this issue!

  • Ah, thanks for pointing me to the reviews in the connect IQ app. At least now I know that I am not the only one and the problem is not on my side.

the Garmin Connect app received an update this morning (on my iOS device). Linking the app now works. Both Komoot and Strava - yay.

Now all I have to do is get a working login for Trailforks

  • Indeed, the new update to the Garmin Connect apps solved the issue.
