Brand new Garmin Edge 830 will not turn on

I bought the device less than a month ago to replace my Garmin Edge 810 which I got tired of troubleshooting.  I plugged the 830 into the wall and recharged it. Then took it for a ride today and it would not turn on, even when I held the power button down for 10 seconds.   I had to do the ride without my new 830.  I saw on another thread that others have experienced the same issue.  Is there a fix for the 830?  I can't believe this new device does not work

  • I have had exactly the same issue, seems if you leave it a bit after changing it will eventually start turning on.  Not a fix but at least you might be able to use it.  That and Garmin wont bother responding to you via the forum or when you raise a incident ticket.

  • Hold the power button down for longer - 30 seconds at least.

  • My experience with the 1030 is that if it is charged using the computer port, after charging it will go into sleep mode and use up the battery in a few days. If charged using a plug in charger, it will totally power down after charging. Don't know why this happens so I always use a plug in charger.
