16 GB is enough?

Hi guys!

Is 16 GB of internal memory enough? how much are you currently occupied (in %) with the map of europe?
My Garmin Edge 1000 also has 16GB and I needed to buy an additional card to upgrade it once...

Thanks

  • Are you in Europe?

Yes, 16 GB should be enough. 8 GB isn't because the size of the default maps recently got too large for that.

If you need maps outside the area of your unit's default maps, you probably don't need a much space. That is, you probably only need a map that covers the region you are actually travelling in (not the whole continent).

Note that you can get free maps. And, if you don't need a large region, it's easy enough to get a map that is fresh just before you go on your trip.

  • I remember years ago, there was a way to increase (even double) the memory with a software, was it windows or dos? I really do not remember how it was working

Perhaps a thing to look after, I also found 16GB a little to less

  • That software wouldn't work because the unit can't run it.

What are you doing that 16gb isn't enough?

  • I have the original maps EU 2019.20, TopoMap France/Belgium, and another little OSM here around (that I mostly use), I have 1,38 GO left, I think in fact enough to work correctly, but it always feels good to have a huge reserve and it is true that I can remove the TPM France until the next trip, but OK
Also, it's just an idea not a real must
