Connect app on Android. Find my Edge 830 on Connect without Google Maps

Hello, I am new to Garmin and got a new Edge830 running fw5. All good until now with the unit.
I don't personally like much of goggle maps and so I usually don't have it installed on my Android phone, however I noticed that the find my edge last location on the Connect app throw an error and that feature to find the edge does not work. I re-installed Google Maps to test and once there all seems ok.
I have other 3rd party GPS app installed in the phone, however Connect does not even try to suggest it's use.
Does anyone know an alternative to Goggle Maps on Android to still be able to use the find my Edge feature on the Connect app?

    Just a small correction on my question. where I mentioned Find my Edge, should have been "Last Known Location"

    Can someonw suggest a better forum to place the question about the Android Connect forcing the use of google maps to use the feature of findinng my Edge 830 "Last Known Location"?

    Not even Garmin representatives seem to reply on my question....
