When will we get an update to disable Virtual Partner

The band-aid of slowing down VP so it disappears from the map does not address all issues with VP.

I've never had a desire to use VP and none of the folks I ride with use VP on their Garmins.

When will we get a s/w update to disable this annoying "feature"?

  • I wonder if it's possible for someone outside of Garmin to figure out a software hack or develop an IQ app that provides the ability to turn the VP completely off.  I would be willing to throw some money into a crowd-funded campaign to find someone to do this.  I find the VP annoying enough that I am willing to pay money to eliminate this "feature."

  • Indeed, i don't understand why it is taking so long...

  • Same here: come on guy's, go for it!

  • I agree with all this. On the E800 the VP could just be turned off when the saved route is loaded. For the E820 and E830 the VP feature is squeezed down our throats. This combined with also breaking the E800 scaling fix on trail up direction pages so a roundabout turns into a triangle and the real navigation arrow is underneath unmovable solid overlay buttons at the bottom of the screen just creates junction navigation nightmare, and dangerous on busy roads sometimes as well. The hardware base of the E830 (other than rain affected capacitive touch screen) is far better than the E800 as one would expect with low power platforms improving all the time, but the software is a big step backwards. Garmin, please fix it, it is a trivial change

  • That's great feedback.  I presume you have communicated these to Garmin via the beta feedback or other support channel?  I don't think we can rely on Garmin folks to be trolling these forums for issues...

  • Hear hear, please include this option, can't be that hard......

  • I was always wondering what you are talking about concerning VP. I've never come across it so far.

But today I loaded a track created on komoot  (as I did several time before) and it is the first time I see this bloody VP on my navigation screen.

You are all right, This is really ***, I cant name it more friendly.

Two more votes to disable this feature.  My wife and I both have 530's and hate not being able to turn this off.  Come on Garmin!!

  • Can someone post a picture of this hugely annoying, space wasting feature in action? Because all I'm seeing (on my 530) is a tiny little arrow, which is hardly ever visible because the VP speed and my actual speed rarely match exactly.

  • That is it.

An arrow head on the map page and a small dot on the elevation page. This assumes that the VP is in the scale range of your place on the map and elevation profile.
