Why, again, no direct download link for the 5.00 FW in this thread?

Tottally annoying you won't provide a direct download. These forums aren't exactly overrun by Edge owners anyway so bandwidth should be manageable for company of Garmin's size.

i did my update this morning via wifi. Pleasantly surprised to see 5.0 since I had 4.25.

I think software update should be done via Garmin Express on PC or Mac.

Phased rollout lasts for about a week. How can Apple push updates to all devices at the same time?

And here we are talking about, what, 30 MB update?
