Training load not using power meter data

Had some issues with my heart rate sensor and did some rides without heart rate data.
Still had powerdata, but at the end of the ride I didn't see any training load info.
Today I did a ride with a heart rate sensor and now training load is telling me i'm detraining.
Any reason why the training status is ignoring the power data ?

  • Training status is a measure of fitness - how hard your body works to produce a given outcome. Power provides the latter but you need heart rate for the former. Both are required in the same activity to determine fitness trends.

I feel your pain though - was doing lots of riding then when mountaineering for a month - fitness went way up but a big "no training status" from Garmin - because although my device captured my heart rate throughout, there's no model for estimating "power" for this type of activity.
