Edge 830 Wifi Support

My Edge 830 won't connect to my wifi at home. It can't see my 5Ghz networks at all and although it sees my 2.4Ghz it won't connect to it.

My home wifi 2.4Ghz band is 802.11N only (no AC). I'm not having any issues with any other devices on the network (Apple TV / Chromecast / Lifx / Printer / TV / Laptops / Phones / Tablets etc). Security is WPA2/Personal AES

Any ideas as to what the issue could be?

What is the wifi used for in the 830?

It is used for data and activities syncing when not connected to a smartphone via bluetooth. Just an alternative synchronization option.

It only supports 802.11 2.4GHz b,g and n. There may be limits on authentication types if you're using something unusual. I have seen posts for other devices requiring disabling 5GHz temporarily if you have the same AP name for both frequencies, not sure why that would be the case but worth a go.

it only support wifi if your password is set to wpa2 only not wep/wpa2 or auto took me a while to figure that one out on my edge 1000 also

I had very similar problems.

My internet provider changed from Unity Media to Vodafone so the router did an over-the-air firme ware update and changed some settings.

I solved the problem that i changed the security option for encryption from "WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK" to "WPA2-PSK".

Now the Edge 830 is able to connect again.
