Edge 830 installation of original GARMIN maps on a SD card

Hi there,

I have just bought a Garmin Edge 830. I wanted to insert my original SD-Card Garmin maps on the device. Unfortunately, I noticed that the device has no card slot anymore. I tried to get information on the Garmin homepage on how to install my maps on the the device by Garmin express etc. However, I could not find any information on that. Frustating ...

Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Just connect the 830 over USB and put the map files (.img) in the Garmin folder.

That probably won't work as maps supplied on a USB card are locked to the card to prevent copying them to other devices.

OP, why do you want to use the maps on the SD card? What is better about them? The Garmin maps on the device will be more up to date.

Witch maps should you select when making youre own map?

Generic Routable (new style ) or
Routable Bicycle (Openfietsmap Lite)?

For use on the 830

I haven't tried the Generic Routable, but the Routable Bicycle maps work well.
