I'm from Singapore and have been using the Garmin 830 for about 1 month.
It seems that the unit sold in Singapore is slightly different as the device registers as GARMIN 830 ASIA and also does not have most of the issues mentioned by members in this forum.
There is however, a recurring problem and it has to do with the elevation figures.
For most of my rides, it seems to work properly but there has been the occasional 2 or 3 rides where elevation data displayed on the garmin is different from that when saving ride.
On a route I do frequently (5km, almost flat) the elevation profile is probably around 10m to 20m at most and there were 2 instances of the 830 reporting ridiculous figures well in the 20,000m to 50,000m upon saving ride.
Not quite sure how to replicate it but it seems to happen whenever I have the unit turned powered off.
The only way to solve it is to reboot the unit.
Has anyone faced such issues before?
Another 2 of my friends have also encountered similar issues with their 830 so I'm thinking it might be a software related bug.
