Auto Start while stationary

New Edge 830 user with all the updates. I've noticed that the unit decided to automatically start the ride by itself while sitting on my counter or plugged into the my PC while charging. When I notice, I have to "stop" the activity and the discard it. Anyone else having similar issues?

Yup, I have the exactly same issue. Ended up disabling auto-start feature.

Thanks! I'm now wondering if it has to do with being indoors Satellite signal going in and out. Perhaps the in/out signal makes the unit think it has moved exceeding the 6 MPH auto start threshold.

Same here - if you're inside, there's plenty of GPS drift and drop-outs due to interference from ceilings, roofs, electricals etc. That all looks like the device is in motion hence the auto-starts. I've tried increasing the auto-start speed but it doesn't help that much...

I have the same issue. Garmin needs to make the auto start/pause feature work only while on the ride pages. If I'm at the home screen and the unit is not actively moving or plugged in charging, then this should never happen. My 810 never did this.

I don't think you can choose specifically from a speed sensor, any indicated speed (from satellite or sensor) will trigger the auto start. If the GPS lock is marginal, you can see some erroneous speed readings and hence false positives with the auto start. You CAN configure some parameters around thresholds for speed etc however

I usually have it set to Prompt me to start an activity, rather than just auto start

Exactly. Its pretty annoying due to the sound and battery draining. it never happened with 820 either. GPS on 830 acts weird in general.
