Edge 830 continuously loosing connection with Di2

I am running the new Edge 830, with Software that is up-to-date. — Version3.50.0.0. Once connected and during an activity the Edge 830 constantly looses connectivity with the Di2, within a minute 10 - 15 times. It disconnects and connects continuously during a ride, loosing data fields in the display like gear combo, battery % and continuously comes back with screen messages what Di2 modus I am running in when re-connecting. Very distracting and annoying.

All firmware from Di2 / Etube is up to date as well as the Garmin Edge 830 software.

I am coming from and Edge 820 where I did not / hardly not experience this issue.

Any recommendations how to resolve this issue.

Just checking to see if there has been any updates on this, I am still experiencing the same issue, i keep checking after each firmware update but no change

  • with beta 5.68 the s1 pop up stop !! i was very happy that all work fine ! with 6.00 start again !!!

  • For me the DI2 connection has been stable. I bought the 830 about 6 month ago (and installed the Di2 ANT interface in the bottom bracket) and in these few months I experienced no issues with dropped connections.

Have you checked that it is not a DI2 cabling issue? That maybe the connectors are not fully set or a cable is broken and the system connects/disconnects because of vibrations during a ride?

The only 'issue' I have with DI2 connectivity is that when I do not wake up the DI2 in the first 5 minutes (or so) of the ride (when not switching gears) the Edge stops scanning and I have to power-cycle the edge to restart scanning.

I do have the same issue with an up-to-date 530 and a just installed and up-to-date EW WU111.

D-Fly is mounted in seat tube, just below the battery. I would really like a fix for this, but is this bug related to the Garmin software? Or...?

I have now tried both the EW-WU111 and EW-WU101 in the seat tube with the same outcome (expensive experiment). I then relocated the device to the handlebars coming out of the junction box and it works as expected (no drop outs). It appears that Garmin Edge 830 does not pick up signals as well as the element bolt I had previously which worked perfectly with the device in the seat tube.

  • i did the same ! move from seat post to handlebars and the disconnect story ended

  • My EW-WU111 is in my handlebar near my bar-end Junction A, and I've never had a drop-out issue.
