Keeps saying "nice jump" when riding on pavement.

last Sunday we were riding on smooth blacktop road at 14 ~ 15 mph on full suspension mountain bike, the Edge 830 keeps beeping and displaying "nice jump" every a few minutes. some show jumping over 7 ft. i was certainly not jumping!

in average 2~3 hour trail rides the Edge would show 30 to 50 jumps when i only had 5 ~ 8 hops/jumps. anyone else has such experiences?

Wow - some of those "jumps" look amazing. I ride a Brommie and would love stats like that!

i wish i had such skills as shown in the stats, but both number of jumps and the distances were exaggerated by the garmin sensor.

I'm experiencing the same with MTB profile on smooth pavement. I often even don't feel any shocks when a false jump was detected.

Any news here? Weekend rides on V 5.00 and MTB profile still showed lot of jumps while rolling :-(

How is the Edge mounted and where? You will get false jumps if you are using an out front mount. For best results the unit needs to be mounted on the stem or on the bars.

Yes, it's an out front mount. What's the difference to a stem mount? Flex of the front out mount itself? Total oscillation is same, isn't it?

I had a long discussion with Garmin on this and I thought they posted an FAQ on it.

They are determine jumps by looking at the accelerometer data from a sensor inside the Edge. The flex of the OFM changes the data and leads to false positives.

Try moving the unit to a different position for a few rides and see if it eliminate the false positives. It stopped the false positives for me when I stopped using an OFM.

Did you get anywhere with this? My Edge 530 is mounted on the stem and I recorded a 17ft jump while riding on flat road...along with 17 other jumps I didn’t do ranging from 4 to 11ft. Latest firmware installed.

Hi, my garmin 830 is mounted on the top tube. I'm getting 5m jumps under the same conditions as the guys in this thread. Software version is 5.28

I have the same issue, but with a rigid mount. It might be due to my fully suspension being compressed while accelerating.

Is there any way to remove these false positives?
