Auto Pause not working when following a workout?

This is by design. Whether it is correct is another question.

Thanks.  Seems kind of silly that Auto Pause would work any differently when following a workout.  If I don't want the timer to stop when I do, I'll set the Auto Pause to off.

I was just looking for this answer, I too would like to option to Auto Pause.  When doing the workout on an indoor trainer no worries as you don't stop however when doing a workout outdoors, sometimes you are at an intersection or light and have to stop on your way to a road that is available to perform an interval.  In addition, it also affects the avg speed as the timer keeps going.  Can we please request this be added as an option.

for me: i don't need Auto Pause during structured workouts, when i do free rides it could be helpful, but 95% not needed, mostly i ride slower, if i make a real pause, i stop the activity and resume it later

Thanks, I figured that out from aweatherall's answer seven months ago.  And as I mentioned in my reply to him, it seems kind of absurd that this would be by design, given that there is a setting to control Autopause when not following a workout.  Why would this functionality be any different when following a workout?  If I want my Edge to not pause when I stop riding during a workout, I will turn Autopause off.  Why force me to do this by default?

Please change this or at least give an option to use select Auto Pause. This lack of availability is enough to have me switch to your competition that allows auto pause during workouts.
